This print is a visual meditation on Black presence, resilience, and self-possession. A crowned figure emerges in silhouette against a reimagined Juneteenth-inspired flag, where freedom is not depicted as a fixed moment in history, but as an ongoing practice—lived, defended, and redefined across generations.
The extended red and white stripes move like memory: layered, enduring, and honest. In the space traditionally reserved for stars, the figure takes her place—commanding, grounded, and luminous. Her deep, richly dark skin is rendered with intention, affirming darkness as origin, power, and presence.
Her hair rises in afro puffs, shaped like radiant forms and held by afro picks that echo ritual, care, and cultural inheritance. Double bamboo earrings punctuate the composition with confidence and legacy—symbols of identity, style, and knowing.
This work is not a study in patriotism, but in reclamation. It asserts visibility, authorship, and belonging within spaces never designed with Blackness in mind—yet transformed by it.
